European Conference for Architectural Policies

The biannual European Conference for Architectural Policies of the member states took place in Bucarest on 12 June - with the theme "Future Shapers" -, organized by the Romanian presidency.

At this meeting, the key actions undertaken by the partner institutions for the implementation of this public policy (Casa da Arquitectura, Serra Henriques Foundation, Gulbenkian Foundation, Serralves Foundation, Lisbon Architecture Triennale, MAAT) were presented.Since 2011, the Serra Henriques Foundation participates in the European Forum for Architecture Policies (EFAP), dedicated to the debate and promotion of architecture, urban planning and territorial development policies, that allies public governance, culture and education.

The forum originated in an international conference, in 1997, under the Dutch presidency of the European Union, that brought together representatives of European governments, cultural institutions and professional associations to share experiences and perspectives on Architecture Policies within the EU. Since then, biannual meetings have taken place, organized by the member state presiding the EU at that moment.

Among various objectives, these meetings intend to disseminate and share knowledge and good practice in the domain of urban, cultural and spatial planning policies.
Currently, and in the framework of the implementation of the National Architecture and Landscape Policy, the Serra Henriques Foundation collaborates with the monitoring commission of this public policy in order to assure Portuguese participation in this European forum.
