The Serra Henriques Foundation, as institutional partner of Docomomo International, announces the 14th Docomomo international conference - International Committee for the Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Public Spaces.

The conference takes places at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between the 6th and the 9th of September, under the theme of "Adaptative Re-use. The Modern Movement Towards the Future", and its programme includes round-tables, 'workshops' and visits to buildings and urban structures, in the centre and north of Portugal.

The theme is based on the conservation and re-use of buildings, promoting the appropriate techniques and conservation methods in order to explore and develop new ideas towards "a built environment that is sustainable in the future, based on the experiences of the past".

Architects Álvaro Siza Vieira, Rem Koolhaas, Joan Busquets, Juhani Pallaasma, Winfried Brenne, João Gomes da Silva, João Luís Carrilho da Graça are included on the guest list.
